Lake Baikal

We're camping at an Ecohostel at Lake Baikal. Very peaceful but no wifi, so will get some pics & more info when we get to Ulan Bator.

Trans Siberia Express

Tuesday 23rd July.

Sent from Trans Siberian Railway. (somewhere near Moscow).

We're on the train heading out of Moscow now.

Big problems at start. Met the translator & after a lot of talking in Russian it turned out our massive bike boxes were a problem, mainly because we are taking a Chinese train and the Russian translator couldn't negotiate with the pravonitsa (conductor). Luckily we had booked a whole cabin for 4 people, so we decided to consider our bikes as extra persons and if that didn't work the platform manager suggested a backhander. Turns out when the train arrived and we greeted the conductors in Chinese they ushered us on bikes and all!

Moscow Kremlin & Taxi

When we arrived on Friday we decided that our bike boxes would be too much for the rush hour traffic. Chris went to get a taxi. He asked for a big one to cope with all our luggage. This is what arrived:

Showery here. We're sat in a cafe with wifi in Gorky park watching peddlo's and ducks drinking tea with our kagools on.
