We're on the train heading out of Moscow now.Big problems at start. Met the translator & after a lot of talking in Russian it turned out our massive bike boxes were a problem, mainly because we are taking a Chinese train and the Russian translator couldn't negotiate with the pravonitsa (conductor). Luckily we had booked a whole cabin for 4 people, so we decided to consider our bikes as extra persons and if that didn't work the platform manager suggested a backhander. Turns out when the train arrived and we greeted the conductors in Chinese they ushered us on bikes and all!

But why were the ducks wearing your kagools and drinking tea?

The poor ducks looked cold, we offered them our kagools and invited them to join us for a cup of warm tea. Unfortunately they spotted a drake and waddled off excitedly without paying and we had to foot the bill :-(
